► (1922-75) Escritor y director cinematográfico italiano. Luchó para la revalorización de la creación popular como expresión de la realidad. En su poesía destacan Diarios de P. P. Pasolini (1945) y ¿Dónde está mi patria? (1949), entre otras. Obra narrativa: Los hijos de la vida (1955), Una vida violenta (1959), Sueño de algo (1962), Teorema (1968), etc. Su producción cinematográfica viene a completar su labor literaria. En 1964, 1968 y 1971 fue premiado en el festival de Venecia por El Evangelio según san Mateo, Teorema y El Decamerón.

Poeta, novelista y director de cine italiano. Escribió novelas que abordaron el diario vivir de las barriadas de Roma, además de una considerable obra poética. A mediados de la década de 1950 comenzó a escribir guiones, entre los que destaca su colaboración con Federico Fellini en Las noches de Cabiria (1956). Debutó como director con Accattone (1961), que se basó en su novela Una vida violenta (1959). Tal vez su película más conocida es la implícita y formalmente radical y antidogmática, El evangelio según San Mateo (1964). Entre sus largometrajes posteriores se cuentan Edipo Rey (1967), Teorema (1968), Medea (1969), Los cuentos de Canterbury (1972) y Las mil y una noches (1974), que obtuvo un premio especial del jurado en el festival de Cannes. Su tratamiento del erotismo, la violencia y la depravación fue enérgicamente criticado por las autoridades religiosas italianas.
